There’s always an opportunity, a chance to “change your life,” a hot new thing.
Many of those are exploiting your desire to have pain stop, or have a simple solution to all your problems.
Focusing on “making things stop” is a coping strategy. Your brain and energy get anchored to thinking about the thing you want to stop, in order to then try to stop it.
You also find different pathways to not owning the problem or situation you’re trying to stop.
- Laying Blame on someone else to try to make them own it.
- Justifying that the system must change, so “the world” owns it.
- Shaming yourself for not being better, and that’s why you can’t own it.
- Taking half-assed ownership by way of Obligation – you have to do it, you don’t want to.
None of these will get you to having what you want and wanting what you have.
One Clever Trick
There is no “one clever trick” in the emails you get.
The clever trick is taking 100% ownership of your life.
What people think of as shortcuts don’t work, or if they appear to work they don’t last.
How many people are living with the outcome of “Ozempic rebound” – regaining weight.
The drug produced results for a while, and they didn’t make the life changes (fitness, diet, underlying conditions) to keep the weight off.
Those steps are the “trick.” Not just taking the drug, taking ownership of understanding every factor that goes into how much a person weighs, and what choices will lead to the desired outcome.
Upset that your boss is never happy with your work? Take ownership of it, 100%. Ask for clarification, stop being upset that they’re not happy, find a new boss and quit.
You could do any of those, or something different. Making your boss be the “reason” you’re unhappy keeps you stuck.
It’s not about moral fibre or character.
It’s ownership.
“I have 100% choice in my life. What I do, what I accept, what I pursue is up to me.”
The moment you can Confront the truth that you have agency over everything in your life, you have power and you become free.
To decide, to be at the level of choice, is to take responsibility for your life and to be in control of your life.

Responsibility
Practicing Responsibility will transform your life.
How do you learn to practice? One path is Responsibility Immersion.
Starting January 26th, you’ll join a cohort of people all learning how to grow their power of Intention, their Awareness of their internal mental state, and their ability to Confront and face what’s true about the moment you’re in.
If you see the power of being able to take ownership of everything in your life, this is the way to sum start that process in you. For less than most gym memberships, you can build your mental muscles of ownership and Responsibility.
You can do this. I can help.
